The “Navigator” Baby Blanket

So I finally finished the blanket and the name is decided. “Navigator” it shall be. There are a few reasons for that. First of all, it is one of my all time favorite songs. And I always try to name my crochet work after songs I have a connection to. Second: a few people did see a flying formation in the pattern.

And third: I work in my daily job as a social worker at a place called “Navigator” that is helping people to navigate through society and life and find a constructive, healthy way towards employment or education. It is also a way to say thank you to my colleagues and partners that it is highly accepted that I crochet at meetings and conferences to find calmness to be able to focus on my daily work. When at meetings, crochet has become a way to cure my restlessness when “forced” to sit still. My colleagues and head of office accept that and are well aware that I am focused on the meeting even if my hands are creating. And I am very, very thankful for that.

As I said in a previous post, the one-row mosaic crochet technique is used in this blanket. This means a lot of fringe and loose ends at both sides of the blanket. But we are going to tackle that with the double border again. I used the same colors in the border as I used for the blanket but it is totally possible to use other colors. That is why I listed the materials in the forthcoming pattern separately. I used 8 balls of SCHEEPJES Cahlista Ultramarine and 7 balls of SCHEEPJES Cahlista Mercury.

For the border I used 2 more balls of SCHEEPJES Cahlista Ultramarine and 1 more ball of SCHEEPJES Cahlista Mercury.

The pattern is in testing and will be online here on the blog and as a PDF in UK, US and German terms very, very soon. I promise.

Stay tuned. More to come soon from up north…
