The ” Beautiful Noise” SCHEEPJES Make – A – Long – ANNOUNCEMENT

Welcome and Thanks

Big news on the way. For the third time I have the honor and privilege to host a SCHEEPJES make – a – long. After the CONNECTED -Make A Long using the mosiac crochet technique and the LANDSCAPE – Tunisian crochet Make – A – Long, we are going to combine those two techniques this time to create the “Beautiful Noise” wrap.

I want to thank all testers, translators, helpers, supporters and the wonderful people at SCHEEPJES from my heart. I can not highlight enough that all this would not be possible without you.

Idea and Technique

The idea this time was to combine different techniques I did not use before to create a pattern that has a “noisy” feeling. The goal was to incorporate different techniques and directions of patterns to a beautiful unity. Just like distinct sounds that come together to create a “Beautiful Noise”.

The pattern is highly inspired by the song written and performed by Neil Diamond. I remember the song from my childhood when my parents listened to it and the original record from that time still has a place in my vinyl collection. Even if I did not understand the lyrics when I was a child I liked the melody a lot. Later I did understand how the artist describes the different sounds of a neighborhood that come together to make a unique, well known noise. It is the moment when all those noises become a melody that sounds like home I tried to catch with this crochet pattern, the moment when all the parts come together but still can be differentiated as unique.

The pattern uses the Tunisian simple stitch and combines it with the mosaic technique, with increases and decreases to add a zig zag shape. We work in stripes which are built by Tunisian rows. The different parts are joined as you go which means that the pattern is constantly growing as you work on it. No parts need to be joined at the end and there will not be any loose ends to weave in. The double Tunisian border gives the sides and edges more strength to prevent curling.

Versions

The pattern is highly adaptable in size. It is also possible to break it in the different parts that built the whole pattern.
