Fluffy Fluffy – Scheepjes Furry Tales – cheating on crochet.

So I got this yarn from my friends at SCHEEPJES. And what can I say. This is so far outside my comfort zone, that I thought this will be in my stash forever. I will never find any use for it.

Do not get me wrong. It is a very, very good yarn but it is just so not my style as I am much into blankets, afghans and things like that – that is what I thought.

The yarn is called SCHEEPJES – Furry Tales and it comes in 22 colors. It is 100% polyester 100 grams / 57 meters. Super Bulky, faux-fur and the recommended needle size is 9.00 mm.

The colors are brilliant but as I said I thought that I really do not have any use for a yarn like that.

But than the day of my daughters winter celebration in preschool came nearer and nearer. I was desperately looking for a simple white hat in any store in town. But i could not find one. I stumbled over the Furry Tales yarn in my stash and as this was the period i was much into knitting I thought, why not give it a try and knit a fluffy fluffy hat for her.

So that is what i did: Cast on 40 stitches in the round with 7.00 mm circular needles (40 cm, join to work in the round. Knit in rounds til work is 21 cm long. Fasten off. Sew lose end through loops on needles. Pull together. Done! (Less than 1 ball used)

Easiest pattern ever!

It really was a long shot. But guess what? It worked out.

She was a very happy snow princess (Yarn color: Snow Queen)

And of course her big sister also wanted to have one.

And as this is not only the easiest but also the fastest pattern in history of knitting, I did one for her too. And as this yarn is really special my older daughters hat become the fanciest thing in pre-school. And she was not shy to mention that her dad knitted her fluffy hat.  So i had to knit two more hats for her friends:

(Prince Charming, Aladdin, Snow Queen, Tinkerbell)

A whole gang of Fluffy – Fluffy hats knitted with the yarn I thought would be forever in my stash. Four pretty happy children.

And as I always wanted to be the cool, fancy dad, who is part of the girl gang in pre-school,  I had to do one for myself too. Same pattern but with 50 stitches cast on and a little longer (24 cm). Which is exactly one ball of yarn.

(The Beast – No not me… – name of this color)

So this is the story of  how I became a member of the fluffy fluffy hat pre-school girl gang.

  1. But that is totally BRILLIANT, that hat ! I would wear one with pride; but I’m not going to pay through the nose for international shipping to get a ball or two of that yarn.
Nonetheless, you are a positive joy, Martin – congratulations for being innovative and kind. Your daughters are truly lovely, and that’s not a btw.
