The “How Bizarre” Pattern

So there is a new pattern out there. It is called the “How Bizarre” pattern because, I really think, the shapes used make a little wacky and strange appearance in a very good way.

The pattern is available in English, Dutch and Spanish. I want to thank all the translators, testers, helping hands and mental support. We create and make this together!

You can find the pattern here:

The pattern will be on sale 20% off for one week from the date of the release on.

The pattern comes with charts, video tutorials and written instructions so that really everyone can crochet it. The pattern is using the Tunisisan crochet technique and we work corner to corner in diagonals creating smaller shapes. That means that we do not need a special hook and we do not need to cut our yarn while we crochet in the row. The loose ends on the sides are hidden in an envelope double border. That means that we do not need to weave in any loose ends.

The pattern is highly adjustable in width and length and can easily be turned into a blanket. This time I decided to make cushion sized squares. Using only 1gram per triangle, this pattern is the perfect stash buster, and as I have the privilege to have the whole colour range of the fanstastic SCHEEPJES Catona at home, I decided to let my older daughter to choose the colors as we go, picking row by row.

The Scheepjes Catona range comes in unbelievable 109 different colors and gives you uncountable possibilities to select your own colorway. It is a 100% Mercerised Cotton yarn, fingering weight with 125meters per 50g. There are also 25g balls and even tiny 10g balls available.

Like that she could create her very own personal colorway. I thought I would only want to make a cushion for her, write the pattern and leave it like that. But a very interesting thing happened. We left the used colours on the floor of my little crafting space.

And when her cushion was done and I wanted to clean up the room I found the balls organized in a quite perfect faded order. The little sister who is the more structured one has crept into the room and played with the yarn in her very own way. So I decided to make one more cushion for the little one in the same colors but in a different order.

Like that, I think the cushion show the similarities in their personality but even reflects their differences. So the cushions did not become cushions but wall hangings for their rooms. I think that is a very cute and even meaningful way to show appreciation for their uniquness and also their connection to each other.

But what about the cushion I wanted to make…. I liked the pattern so much that I started one more in my own structured colors…And finally I could finish the project I wanted to make. But the best thing with this pattern was, for sure, to adjust and adapt it to the needs, wants and preferences of somebody else.

I hope you have fun with the pattern and like it as much as I did.
