The ”Hooked On A Feeling” Tunisian crochet blanket

HARD FACTS

The pattern includes photo and video tutorials, a PDF chart and written instructions.
The pattern is available in English, Dutch and Spanish on RAVELRY and on ETSY

The pattern does not require a special Tunisian crochet hook.
The blanket is worked with the right side facing and crocheted from corner to corner using the Tunisian and Entrelac techniques.
No color changes required. The pattern is worked with one yarn in one color every row.
An envelope border is added, which will hide the yarn ends.

THE YARN

The pattern is crocheted in SCHEEPJES Catona, a 100% mercerised cotton yarn. The yarn has a range of 113 colors which gives you uncountable possibilities to create yout very own colorway. The colors I chose are:

Old Lace / 130; Mercury / 074; Capri Blue / 261; Ultramarine / 124; Ginger Gold / 383 and Rust / 388

The pattern is based on 6 colors repeating back and forth. I added 2 different colors for the border to give it a nice finish. To use a different color in the border makes even the process easier as the stitches you are going to use to add the border are more visual and easier to see.

Border in Saffron / 249, and Light Navy / 164

The measurements of the blanket are 130 cm x 210 cm. The pattern is easily adjustable in size if you want to create it smaller or bigger.

BACKGROUND

As always the goal was to create something that looks quite advanced but still is fun to make and easy to do. I crocheted this pattern basically everywhere I went. The pattern is creating itself and it is really not required to look up every written stitch. Once you understand the construction, I promise that you will easily find the flow and that you will be to crochet without checking the pattern for every square.

As you can see in the next picture the blanket is made by using one color every row. That means less loose ends and no yarn cutting except at the end of every row.

The pattern got the name “Hooked On A Feeling” the famous song by Blue Swede (yes, it is a cover version) for obvious reasons. As I said, the pattern is easy to follow along but it still needs a little patience and comitment to finish big blankets. I still hope that this creation gives you the feeling that the process of making is fun and easy.

If you decide to buy new yarn, Scheepjes Yarn can be bought at your local yarn shop: Scheepjes Dealers .

I really hope that you also get hooked on that special feeling…
