The “Mixtape” loop

A new knitting pattern. A big loop that keeps you warm during the cold winter days.

It is in fact a variation of 11 classic nordic knitting patterns and that is also why I call it the MIXTAPE loop.

It is knitted in the round with a 3,50mm circular needle. As i knit kind of tight, most of you have to go down at least a half size to have the same gauge as I have.

You will find a ready to print pattern with 11 charts and a little tutorial how to join the loop HERE ON RAVELRY.

As you can see in the first picture 9 of the 11 patterns are knitted two times in invert colors. The two patterns which are only knitted one time are so to say the start and end of the infinity loop. That sounds kind of weird as a loop does neither have an end nor a beginning, but hey, you know what i mean.

The yarn of choice was this time the wonderful, luxury SCHEEPJES Metropolis – perfect knitting yarn:

75% Extra Fine Merino Wool x 25% Nylon, 50 grams – 200 meters.

And the very best: 80 fabulous shades!

The colors i chose for the Mixtape loop are:

I started this loop as a fair isle/stranded training swatch to get my stitches neat and even. That’s why I choose simple patterns that do not require a lot of experience. Only two colors each row and not more than 7 stitches of one color to avoid long strands or floats on the backside.

  3. For those who like me grew up in the 60’s, I believe will get a chuckle out of the name of Mixtape for this amazing scarf. The name you chose for you new scarf is surely witty and brought back to me lovely memories of the mixtapes of my teenage years. Congratulations !
