So, so so….We finally have a new pattern and I need to say that I am really, really happy how this turned out. The project took almost a year and the decision to let the process take its time was more than right. It is a new skill unlocked in Tunisian crochet which needed a lot of trial and error and in the end, this has become a double pattern which is fun to make, adjustable, not only in total size but even in the size of the figures… because this time it is all about lightning flashes that create the “Perfect Storm” pattern.

The pattern comes in 2 versions, a full blanket and a scarf/wrap. Both versions use different sizes of the main motive and beyond that both versions are adaptable in total size. I even made a multi color cushion (written pattern not included, but very easy to adapt) to show how many options this new technique opens up to.

As always; the pattern is much easier to crochet than it looks like. We work with one color at a time, there are zero color changes in the rows and there are no loose ends to weave in at the end. We work in stripes that are joined as you make them. So there are no parts that need to be joined in the end. When the product is finished, it is finished so to say. The make grows as you go.

Once you understand the technique the pattern is very easy to memorize so you can work without looking at the written instructions all of the time. That makes this pattern the perfect “take with you, everywhere you go” project.

The blanket is made in SCHEEPJES WOOLWISE which is a 100% Recycled Superwash Merino Wool, 100 grams = 200 meters, DK yarn. Super high, luxury quality and very easy to work with. I used a 5,5mm hook to create that blanket. The colors I used are:

11 balls of Midnight/715,

12 balls of Honey Mustard/705 and

2 balls of Ruby Red/732 to spicy up the design a little with the red lightning flash in the middle.

The border holds:

1 ball of Ash Grey/703

4 balls of Ruby Red/732

After a good blocking the blanket has the size of 205 cm x 160 cm.

The scarf/wrap is made in SCHEEPJES METROPOLIS, 75% Extra Fine Merino Wool x 25% Nylon, fingering yarn with 50 grams =200 meters. I used a 4mm hook to create this 220 cm long and 55 cm wide scarf/wrap. The yarn used in that version is:

6 balls of Naples / 043

6 balls of Philadelphia / 007

Border:

3 balls of Alexandria / 034

1 ball of Dhaka / 040

Scheepjes Yarn can be bought at your local yarn shop: Scheepjes Dealers . If you do not have the possibility to buy local, you can order your Scheepjes yarn at Wool Warehouse or Jimmy Beans Wool

The rich color range of the Scheepjes Woolwise of 60 shades gives you the opportunity to crochet endless color combinations and really adapt the design to your own needs. The yarn is really heavy so you will create the perfect winter blanket.

The luxury Scheepjes Metropolis yarn comes in 80 colors. The finished scarf/wrap is lightweight with perfect drape, super wearable and it will keep you warm all winter long.
